Abstract

The printing machine has a platen and a printing head reproducing symbols on paper etc. A drive mechanism moves the head to and fro over the platen so as to print lines on it, and another one moves the paper. The two work together so as to move the paper forward at particular times and leave it stationary at others, so as to print the lines in succession. The drive mechanism can have a servo motor to which a screw is coupled rotating in either direction so as to move the head back and forth over the platen. The paper transport mechanism can have a traction device coupled and uncoupled from the drive as desired, typically by belt.
