Abstract

The organic polyisocyanates (I) are polymerised in closed moulds in the presence of cpds. (II) causing NCO-gp. trimerisation. Organic cpds. (III) contg. gps. reactive with NCO gps. are opt. present, provided equiv. ratio NCO :NCO-reactive gps. is 1:0.8 (1:0.6) esp. 1:0.01. If (III) are present, polymerisation is accompanied by an NCO-addn. reaction. Articles can be used for prodn. of furniture; in building-, electrical and car industries; for technical components; articles for domestic and everyday use; for sanitary ware and for sports. Strong articles are prepd. in very short times, e.g. 0.25-2.5 min., and require no after-treatment. Process can be used on a large, industrial Pref. (I) are diphenylmethan diisocyanates contg. carbodiimide and/or urethane gps., urethane gp-contg. polyisocyanate, toluene diisocyanates and phosgenation products of aniline/HCHO condensates. Catalysts (II) may be alkali acetates and phenolates and esp. 2,4,6 tris-(di-methylaminomethyl)-phenol.
