Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled radiation-curable resin capable of giving high- strength coating films, by ring opening polymerization of a lactone using, as the initiator, a novel dihydroxyl compound followed by preparing a polyurethane resin from the resulting product and then by acryloyl-modification of the both ends of said resin. CONSTITUTION:First, a lactone (pref. caprolactone) is brought to ring opening polymerization using, as the initiator, a dihydroxyl compound of formula (R1, R2 and R4 are each alkylene; R3 is hydrocarbon of diisocyanate compound origin, R5 is H or CH3). Thence, the resulting product is made to react with a polyisocyanate compound to form a polyurethane resin with the both ends of the main chain being OH groups or NCO groups. Finally, the both ends mentioned above are brought to (meth)acryloyl-modification. The compound of the formula is a new material and is suggested to be prepared, in general, by reaction between a diisocyanate compound and hydroxyl (meth)acrylate compound followed by reaction of the resulting product with an alkanolamine.
