Abstract

The tapping valve is particularly for beer barrels, comprising a housing fixed in the bunghole and in which a standpipe is fixed, closed at the top. The pipe is enclosed by an annular chamber freely connected to the inside of the barrel, and an annular main seal is spring loaded against the inside of the housing and the outside of the pipe top part,above the openings connected to the inside of the barrel from the annular chamber. When pressed back into the open position, the seal is clear of the housing and below the ports in the standpipe, forming a seal against the latter. The top part of the standpipe (7) is a separate component (14), removable from the remainder in order to replace the main seal (12) from the outside, and which can be refitted to the pipe afterwards. This part can also include the standpipe ports (17), and it can be screwed into the pipe, which is prevented from turning in the housing.
