Abstract

The preheating and at least partial calcining in a heat exchanger using at least two parallel units, each with first preheating stage(s) and at last calcining stage followed by a sintering furnace and a clinker cooler. Air heated in the cooler travels to the furnace and at least one heat exchanger unit. Exhaust gases from the furnace flow into at least one other heat exchanger unit, all the air or gas streams being controlled. Each calcining stage is directly fed with air from the cooler so some combustion occurs in these stages of surplus fuel in the exhaust gas from the sintering furnace. The raw material is pref. completely calcined before entering the sintering furnace. Pref. plants include cyclone preheaters, calcining chambers, a rotary drum furnace, and a clinker cooler. Avoids the formation of deposits on the walls of the plant during calcining of cement.
