Abstract

The vehicle engine speed is detected (2) by a detector placed adjacent to a component (3, 4) placed on the engine such that electrical pulse signals are obtained. These are passed into electrical circuits (6) where speed limit values can be set, enabling operation of a valve (12) to control the vacuum in a tube (13) connected to a controller (9). This provides a force acting on the accelerator pedal (14) against the driver's foot pressure (16). The valve control signal varies with the engine speed and progressively increases the reaction force as the engine speed increase in a set speed range. The engine carburettor butterfly valve may be used instead of the accelerator.
