Abstract
A fibrous material is mfd. by treating the sludge from the purificn. of paper- and pulp-making effluents, to kill off all the bacterial, algae, etc. and then drying it. Solid matter obtd. by flocculation and sepd. from the water is used after treating with a base or an acid which is afterwards neutralised. The granular material can be bonded into plates with synthetic resin, or drying can be dispensed with if cement or plaster of Paris is used.
