Abstract
In the continuous mfr. of a longitudinally corrugated material, e.g. for sound or thermal insulation, by transversely folding a longitudinally flexible strip, the strip is introduced in transversely folded form between two longitudinally extending walls which define a passage of height greater than the strip thickness and are displaced longitudinally, the strip being introduced at a speed less than the linear inlet speed and decreases in the direction of displacement, so that the closing up of the folds is brought about in the interior of the passage in the length direction the strip material. The strip material may be a fibrous web, a fleece of such webs, a (non)woven fabric or a sheet of plastic. The use of moving walls in the folding and transport of the folded strip, overcomes the problems arising using stationary walls, e.g. the restriction of motion of the corrugated material if treated with a binder, and the risk of blocking the appts.
