Abstract

1421848 Laminated products ROCKWOOL AB 24 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 19221/73 Heading B5N A web of mineral wool comprises a plurality of strips 24, 25, 26 of mineral-wool fibres, the fibres in each strip being oriented transversely to the overall length of the web and the strips being assembled in the web so that their main surfaces are contained in substantially parallel planes transverse to the length of the web, the border portions of each strip at the opposed parallel surfaces thereof that are defined by the fibre ends and form part of the overall length of the web being progressively bent out of said planes towards one end of the web. The web may be made by feeding a mat 10 of mineral wool fibres intermittently in direction 11, cutting a strip 12 from the mat by knife 13, pushing the strip 13 upwardly into the funnelshaped mouth 36 of a channel 37 by piston 14 to bend the border portions 18<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>11</SP> of the strip, the process being repeated to build up the web from a plurality of the strips, airing of a binding agent present in the strips being effected in an oven 21 prior to cutting the web by sawing device 22 in to lengths 23. The side walls of the channel are preferably formed of two continuously or intermittently movable belts.
