Abstract

The foodstuff has a filling enveloped in an expanded extrudate contg. cereals, the filling being a foodstuff of intermediate humidity contg. 10-50 wt.% of meat or meat by-prod., 15-40 wt.% of sugar equiv. or mixt. 10-40 wt.% of vegetable matter and a mycostatic agent, the water content of the filling being 15-40 wt.%, pH 4.5-7.0 and water activity 0.70-0.90. The extrudate pref. contain 24-50 wt.% of mixed grains, 5-25 wt.% of animal protein, 10-30 wt.% of vegetable protein, 5-15 wt.% of fat or fatty material, 1-5 wt.% of vitamins, minerals etc. and 5-15 wt.% of water. The mycostatic agent id pref. 5 wt.% propylene glycol and 0.3% of a sorbate e.g. of K. The foodstuff does not lose its water content.
