Artificial coland comprising a structure, particularly a borehole drill rig, supported on a foundation consisting of >=1 open top vessel filled with ballast, and pref. fabricated from reinforced concrete. Provides a relatively cheap construction for an off-shore drilling tower in locations where rough water may be expected, not needing costly piling or equally costly caissons.
