Abstract

In a cooling plate for a metallurgical shaft-furnace of the type consisting of a flat box opt. singly or doubly conically tapering on one side and provided with connexions for the flow and return of cooling liquid, the outer envelope of the box consist of upper and lower shells fabricated from flat plate in which >=1 of the shells is formed by spatial pressing and the shells are bonded together by welding. Enables a much cheaper steel plate to replace the usual cast copper plate. The steel plate may be produced by rolling and is thus more likely to be free of blowholes and its rounded form reduces wear by the motion of the cooling liquid and/or gases.
