Abstract

The holding circuit is used for maintaining a potential in a lead when it is excited for a short period. Such a circuit is used in an alarm annunciator system, which will activate a line via alarm contacts when certain conditions such as fire etc. prevail. The line (1) connected to a supply (8) via a number of alarm switches (2, 3, 4) with the appropriate decoupling diodes (5, 6, 7). All the alarm contacts are open in the neutral condition, so that the line will not be live and the lamp or light emitting diode (9) which is connected via a series resistance (10) between the line and earth will remain extinguished. There is a transistor whose base is connected to the line via a resistance and whose emitter is connected to earth and collector to the supply via a resistance. There is also a second transistor of the opposite type conductivity whose base is connected to the collector of the first transistor via a resistance.
