Abstract

The hall is suitable for sporting activities and has a roof in the form of a circular arch which is fitted over horizontal rails. The arches have parallel spans of steel in each section, each truss having an H-profile. The flanges of the H are of T-section units and are connected by diagonal cross straps between the flanges. The spans themselves are linked by diagonal cross braces which intersect in the plane of the central span. The complete hall is made up from four segments, on either side of the centre-line, the highest segment being in the centre and the heights of the other segments being less the nearer the segment is to the outside of the building.
