Abstract

Light fuel oil is produced by (a) cracking a high-boiling hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of a catalyst with limited activity under conditions such that the conversion of the feedstock to gasoline and lighter fractions is limited; (b) fractioning the prod. into a light fuel oil prod., a cycle oil with an intermediate distn. range (ICO), and a heavy cycle oil (HCO); (c) recycling the HCO to stage (a); (d) cracking the ICO in the presence of a catalyst with limited activity under conditions such that light fuel oil is preferentially produced; (e) recycling the catalyst from stage (d) to stage (a); (f) fractioning the prod. from (d) to isolate the light fuel oil; and (g) lowering the pour point of the light fuel oil (LCO) by contacting with a ZSM-5-type zeolite.
