Abstract

The arrangement is of the type using a number of supply carts, a press (6) and a number of containers (12) in which the compressed refuse is taken away in large portions. It comprises a buffer store (4) into which the refuse is dumped by the supply carts, a transport mechanism (5) which periodically transfers quantities of refuse from the buffer store to the press (6), and a receptacle (9) movable along a track, which receives the compressed material from the press and transfers it to a waiting container (12) for disposal. The receptacle (9) may be movable laterally along the track whilst at the same time being capable of limited longitudinal movement.
