Abstract
The X-ray machine is for taking radiological pictures of a patient in a standing position. It consists of a support with a cassette holder for an X-ray film cassette. The patient is made to stand on a foot plate, which supports at least three pressure absorbers which are not in one line. The pressure absorbers are connected to a computer which produces an output signal to determine the location of the vertical projection of the centre of gravity in a plane on the footplate relative to a reference point. An element, which can be moved mainly in a horizontal plane is attached to the support. A wire shaped element made from a material that absorbs X-rays is placed between the patient and the cassette holder. It adopts a position which corresponds to the location of the vertical projection of the centre of gravity of the body relative to the reference surface as calculated by the computer.
