Abstract

Circuit for imparting a colour television signal to a carrier, where the colour signal information is modulated by a PAL system in phase and amplitude onto an auxiliary colour carrier wave. The auxiliary carrier is derived from an oscillator with a phase change switch with the output fed to a network which turns the signal through a right angle. An output of the phase change switch alternates from line to line in phase and is fed to a first modulator which receives a modulation signal from a first mixer circuit. A red and a blue colour difference signal are recorded during a number of line periods in the raster suppression times. These colours are modulated in phase and amplitude on the auxiliary colour carrier wave and demodulated at the receiver by a PAL system to produce a signal which yields a SECAM identifying signal.
