Abstract

The system is for the protection of unguarded valuables e.g. jewellery and incoporates a movable supporting surface for the valuables, which are shifted to a place difficult of access as the result of movement of this surface. Locking devices connected to an electric supply normally prevent movement of the surface but release it on the current being cut off. It comprises a housing (1) with a top opening (2), and the surface is in the form of a drawer (5) sliding to and from on inclined rails (8). The housing is divided into two compartments (6, 7) by a vertical partition (3) with an opening in it (4) in which the drawer is a close fit as it slides through under gravity into the second compartment (7) forming the place difficult of access. The drawer is held in the first compartment by an electromagnet normally energised, the supply to which is cut off as soon as an alarm unit operates.
