Abstract

The mechanism is of the type intended for cutting off lengths of rod material and comprising a frame (1) carrying a fixed cutter (12) and a corresponding movable cutter (11). A rotor (6) is arranged in the frame which can be driven by a motor (9) to a condition of high kinetic energy. The rotor is provided with a radially extending arm (10) the free end of which carries the moving cutter (11). The mechanism may be provided with clamping means for the rod, consisting of a double-ended swivel lever (15) pivoted to the frame at (14), one end of which faces the fixed cutter (12), means (17, 18) being provided to actuate the clamp at the moment of cutting.
