Abstract

The shock absorber has a tubular member (2, 1) with two relatively movable elements (7, 10) the space between the elements being filled with hydraulic fluid which flows out of the space via a throttle (21, 22) when the elements move together. One of the elements consists of a pin (7), the other element comprising a bush (10) into which one end of the pin enters when the elements move towards each other. The bush (10) has an extension (11) separated from it by a partition (12). The throttle element comprises small bores (21) in bush (10) and bores (22) in bush (11), and a bolt (16) screwed in the top of bush (11), the length of the bolt determining the number of bores (22) available for flow of fluid displaced when the elements move together.
