Abstract

Known techniques for building construction sound-proof component manufacture, especially for floors, are expensive. The simple construction described consists of a rectangular plate (1) to which are glued a pair of strips (3) parallel with the longitudinal axis of the backing strip. The plates are typically of metal and the smaller strips may be made of off-cut sections from the main units, thereby reducing costs. The strips have a thickness from 1 to 2mm. The use of materials of the same type minimizes thermal expansion problems. The intermediate glue layer is about 1mm thick.
