Abstract

The holder for the tooth or spike of a ground breaking machine comprises a robust double armed bracket with a central boss with a splined connection to the driving member of the rotary machine. At either end of the arm is a bolt hole to accept the spike, the upper end of which has a hexagonal nut clamp (52). The spike has fluted section (35, 42, 45) and a recessed tip (50, 51). Supporting the top ends of the bolts are projecting shoulders (39) at either end of the bracket, but asymmetrically disposed on either side. The contact between the spike and the holder is made between flats on the shank of the spike and cut-out sections of the holder.
