Abstract

Foam concrete components are manufacture by partly filling up a mould with the foam concrete mixture consisting of cement, aggregate, water and foaming agent whilst the latter still evolves gas, closing the mould with a lid which allows gas to pass through but no solid, thereby permitting the mixture to expand within the mould space and to solidify under the pressure of the gas generated within it. The water is pref. added to the mix. at 65-70 degrees C and the foaming agent used comprises pref. Al-power. alkali, soap and a catalyst. The method results in a mechanically stronger component. No vibration treatment is necessary during its manufacture.
