Abstract

Selective hydrocracking catalysts for n. paraffins are produced by replacing at least part of the Na ions in zeolite KSOI (FR 70.42901; X-ray powder data, compsn. and adsorption characteristics given) by other cations and depositing one or more catalytically active metal components on the zeolite, the material being subjected to one or more heat treatments in which it is heated to a final temp. of 400-550 degrees C and maintained at this temp. for some time and in at least the 1st heat treatment, the partial H2O vapour pressure (PH2O mm Hg) being chosen in dependence on the temp. of the material (T, degree C) such that the relation -0.05T + 30 =PH2O =-0.05T + 70 is satisfied in the temp. range between 100 degrees C and the final temp.
