Abstract

1445593 Hydrocarbon conversion catalyst SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 24 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 40167/73 Addition to 1337752 Heading BIE [Also in Divisions Cl and C5] Zeolite prepared according to the process of the main invention is heat-treated, at least for the first time so that the atmosphere surrounding it satisfies the relationship -0.05T+ 30#PH 2 O #-0.05T+70 where T is the temperature in ‹C and PH 2 O the partial water vapour pressure in mmHg. During the heating up period in the range from 100‹C to the final temperature the relationship #PH 2 O/#T#O may be satisfied where #T is a small rise in temperature and #PH 2 O the corresponding change in partial water vapour pressure. When the temperature is at a point between 275 and 325‹C the partial water vapour pressure may be reduced by 10-20 mm Hg and between 200‹C and this point it may be 35-50 mm Hg. The final temperature may be at least 450‹C. Where the zeolite is heat treated more than once only the first treatment need be under the conditions of the invention. By heat-treatment is meant heating the material up to the final temperature and maintaining this temperature for some time. Catalysts based on these zeolites are suitable for selective hydrocracking of unbranched hydrocarbons and are preferably used in their sulphidic form.
