Abstract

Glass fibre-reinforced plastic cable fitting, esp. a sleeve for connecting telecommunications cables with a plastic or metal sheath, has a thin walled insert piece (5), which fits the inner contours of the fitting, consists of a material forming a barrier to moisture, and has such a shape that its edges (7) extend to the sealing regions (3) both between the cable jacket and the housing, and between the housing parts. The insert piece provides a barrier towards moisture. The fitting is cheap and easy to produce. The insert piece consists of low pressure polyethylene, or of a metal. The metal insert piece may be coated with a lacquer or thermoplastic material. The insert piece is bonded to the housing part.
