Abstract

A thermally crystallisable glass consists of (in mole %) 15-45% PbO, 8-25% Fe2O3 and 35-65% SiO2. The comp. is easily moulded into a ferrite article of useful mag. and elec. props. pref. by (a) melting an oxide batch (b) cooling and forming the article, and (c) heat-treating the article to form the lead ferrite crystals in situ within the glassy matrix.
