Abstract

The alloy is produced by (a) adding 0.01-2.0% wt Al2O3, SiO2 and/or K2O, and 0.005-0.5% wt Co and/or Sn to tungsten powder, (b) homogenising the mixture, and (c) reducing the mixture in a reducing atmosphere to give a reduced powder. It is used for the prodn. of wire or plate for electric light bulbs, and cathode tubes. It has a good ductility and flexibility both before and after recrystallisation. Incandescent lamps produced from these materials have good emission props. and are vibration resistant, so that they can be used for head lamps of automobiles.
