Abstract

Lead chromate pigment is prepared by forming a precipitate in a solution containing Pb and Zn ions by adding a chromate soln., adding H3PO4 and filtering the precipitate. The pigment may be a chromate yellow, chromate orange, molybdate orange, molybdate red, chromate green or phthalocyanine-chromate green. Used in paints, lacquers, plastics, and printing inks. The pigment is resistant to sterilisation conditions, and to chemicals, esp. chemicals contg. sulphur.
