Abstract
Liquid cleaning concentrates, particularly suitable for cleaning aircraft, are obtained by mixing, suitably at 50-60 DEG C., in any order (a) one or more oil-soluble amine soaps of a fatty acid, triethanolamine oleate being preferred, (b) hydrocarbon oil, suitably an oil free from aromatics, such as spindle oil, gas oil, kerosene, or gasoline, (c) one or more alkali-metal salts of a sulphodicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester, sodium dialkyl sulphosuccinate being preferred, (d) one or more fatty acid polyglycol esters, preferably a mixture of two oleate esters having average molecular weights of about 550 and 2500, (e) one or more alkaryl polyglycol ethers, preferably a monoalkylphenol polyglycol ether, and (f) water, the respective proportions of (a)-(f) present, expressed as percentages by weight of the aggregate of (c), (d), (e) and (f), being 100-25% of (a), 50-200% of (b), 28-42% of (c), 25-35% of (d), 15-25% of (e), and 12-18% of (f). The mixture is suitably adjusted to pH 7 \sB 0.4 by the addition of monomethanolamine or monoethanolamine and is then allowed to ripen at room temperature, i.e. below about 35 DEG C., for several days in the absence of light, after which any sediment is seprated. Before use, the concentrate is diluted either with 9-10 volumes of an organic solvent, suitably a mineral oil fraction, or with 20 volumes of water. For special uses, the diluent may consist of aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons. The cleaned surfaces are afterwards rinsed with water.
