Abstract
PURPOSE: To fluidize and recover sludge deposited on the bottom of a tank effectively in a short time, by a method in which two or more kinds of specific treating agents are added to a petroleum sludge and heat-treated, and then an oily solvent is added to the sludge for dispersion.
CONSTITUTION: Two or more kinds of treating agents selected from a petroleum solvent (A), e.g., heavy oil or light oil, a tar solvent (B), e.g., xylene bottom oil or naphthalene oil, and a surfactant (C), e.g., anionic, nonionic, and cationic surfactants, are added to a petroleum sludge deposited on the bottom of a tank, etc., for crude oil, heavy oil, etc., in proportions of 0.5W2vol times as much as sludge for (A)+(B), 0.01vol% or more (B), and 0.01W10wt% (C). Then, the mixture is heat-treated at 50W90°C for half a day or several days, and then an oil solvent selected from the components (A) and (B) is added to the sludge so treated in a proportion of 2W10vol times as much as the sludge and stirred at ordinary temperature to 70°C to disperse the sludge into the oily solvent.
