Description
Transport and display trolley for flower containers
The invention relates to a transport and display trolley for flower containers, comprising a base frame part with wheels and a carrier frame mounted on said base frame part for supporting retainers or trays for the flower containers.
Each of W098/09556, FR 2.137.287, DE 39 36 185 and NL 2021945 discloses such a transport and display trolley.
Although NL 2021945 was designed to overcome problems of prior art trolleys such as inefficient use of space during transport when loaded with flower containers, but al-s0 inefficiencies in case of return transport of the trolley when the flower containers are empty or removed. Another disadvantage that NL 2021945 sought to overcome is the in- tensive handling requirements of prior art trolleys to load them with flower containers, and on the place of destination to remove the flower containers. This all requires a lot of human handling, and is therefore laborious and costly.
The instant invention is aimed in further improving the ease of handling of the known transport and display trolley, to improve its versatility, to simplify its manufacturing and correspondingly the costs of manufacturing such trolley, and in general to improve the trolley’s robustness and capability to withstand rough handling.
These and other objectives of the invention that may become apparent from the following disclosure, are at least in part provided by a transport and display trolley with the features of one or more of the appended claims.
In a first aspect of the invention the transport and display trolley is arranged such that during use the carrier frame is vertical and that the retainers or trays are provided with at least three fixable angular positions with reference to the carrier frame, a first position where-in the retainers or trays are horizontal and at right angles with reference to the carrier frame, a second position wherein the retainers or trays are slanting obliquely for-ward with reference to the horizon, and a third position wherein the retainers or trays are tilted backwards so as to place the retainers or trays in a near to vertical position.
- 2 =
Accordingly the transport and display trolley of the invention is very versatile and can easily be moved from having the retainers or trays purely horizontal or slightly slanting forward. Both positions support the display facility of the trolley. Because the carrier frame is vertical, the occupation of space by the trolley of the invention is reduced to a bare minimum, which makes transportation of the trolley very efficient, particularly also in the situation that the trolley is loaded with flower containers as well as when the trolley is on a return transport.
Moreover in supporting different angular positions of the retainers or trays for flower containers, the carrier frame of the trolley of the invention is beneficial for an optimal presentation of the flowers at the place of destination.
As a third position the retainers or trays can be tilted backwards so that they assume a nearly vertical position which is beneficial for stacking a number of trolleys according to the invention. Transportation of such empty trolleys then does not require much space.
Movement between the respective positions of the retainers or trays can be beneficially achieved by arranging that the retainers or trays are each connected to an up-and- down movable handlebar.
The stability of the transport and display trolley of the invention is optimal when the carrier frame supports the retainers or trays in their middle, and that the handle-bar supports the retainers or trays on their sides.
Preferably a lowest retainer or tray is fixedly connected to the carrier frame, and that the up-and-down movable handlebar connects to the carrier frame at least through said lowest retainer or tray and through an upper linkage distant from the lowest retainer or tray so as to provide that the lowest retainer or tray, said linkage, the carrier frame and the handlebar form a parallelogram construction. This promotes the sturdiness of the transport and display trolley of the invention.
It is further beneficial that except for a lowest retainer or tray which is fixedly connected to the carrier frame, the retainers or trays are removable from the carrier
- 3 = frame and replaceable at selectable heights. This improves flexibility of the transport and display container of the invention.
The invention will hereinafter be further elucidated with reference to the drawing of an exemplary embodiment of a transport and display trolley for flower containers that is not limiting as to the appended claims.
In the drawing: — figure 1 shows a transport and display trolley for flower containers in three different positions; — figure 2 shows an assembly step of the transport and display trolley for flower containers of figure 1; — figure 3 shows a parallelogram construction pro-vided by specific parts of the transport and display trolley of the invention; and — figure 4 shows the transport and display trolley of the invention in a return transport mode.
Whenever in the figures the same reference numerals are applied, these numerals refer to the same parts.
Figure 1 shows the transport and display trolley 1 for flower containers of the invention, comprising a base frame part 2 with wheels 3 and a carrier frame 5 mounted on said base frame part 2 for supporting retainers or trays 6 for the flower containers. It shows that the carrier frame 5 is vertical and that the retainers or trays 6 are provided with at least three fixable angular positions with reference to the carrier frame 5, notably a first position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are horizontal and at right angles with reference to the carrier frame 5 as depicted in figure 1A, a second position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are slanting obliquely forward with reference to the horizon as depicted in figure 1B, and a third position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are tilted backwards so as to place the retainers or trays in a near to vertical position as depict-ed in figure 1C.
As may be better understood from figure 2A and figure 2B, the retainers or trays 6 are each connected or connectable to an up-and-down movable handle-bar 8, and further that the carrier frame 5 supports the retainers or trays 6 in their middle 6’, and that the handlebar 8 supports the retainers or trays 6 on their sides 6''. The arrows in figure 2A indicate the motions by which a retainer or tray 6 can be mounted in the trolley of the invention and connected to both the carrier frame 5 and the up-and-down movable handlebar 8.
Figure 3 shows a starting configuration of the trolley of the invention, in which a lowest retainer or tray 6 is fixedly connected to the carrier frame 5, and the up-and-down movable handlebar 8 connects to the carrier frame 5 at least through said lowest retainer or tray 6 and through an upper linkage 4 distant from the lowest retainer or tray 6 so as to provide that the lowest retainer or tray 6, said linkage 4, the carrier frame 5 and the handlebar 8 together form a parallelogram construction. Again this figure 3 shows the three fixable angular positions of the retainer or tray © with reference to the carrier frame 5, i.e. in figure 3A a first position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are horizontal and at right angles with reference to the carrier frame 5, in figure 3B a second position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are slanting obliquely forward with reference to the horizon, and in figure 3C a third position wherein the retainers or trays 6 are tilted backwards so as to place the retainers or trays 6 in a near to vertical position, easy for stacking as shown in figure 4.
Finally it is noted that except for the lowest retainer or tray 6 which is fixedly connected to the carrier frame 5, the retainers or trays 6 are removable from the carrier frame 5 and replaceable at selectable heights in the manner indicated in figure 2A.
Although the invention has been discussed in the foregoing with reference to an exemplary embodiment of a transport and display trolley for flower containers according to the invention, the invention is not restricted to this particular embodiment which can be varied in many ways without departing from the invention. The discussed exemplary embodiment shall therefore not be used to construe the appended claims strictly in accordance therewith. On the contrary the embodiment is merely intended to explain the wording of the appended claims without intent to limit the claims to this exemplary embodiment. The scope of protection
— 5 = of the invention shall therefore be construed in accordance with the appended claims only, wherein a possible ambiguity in the wording of the claims shall be resolved using this exemplary embodiment.
