Abstract

Transport and display trolley (1) for flower contain— ers, comprising a base frame part (2) with wheels (3) and an upstanding frame part (4) mounted on the base frame part (2), wherein the trolley (1) comprises a carrier frame (5) support— ed by said base frame part (2) and by said upstanding frame part (4), said carrier frame (5) being provided with retainers (6) for the flower containers and said carrier frame (5) being arranged with at least two positions, a first position wherein the carrier frame (5) is upright and essentially parallel to the upstanding frame part (4), and a second position wherein the carrier frame (5) is slanting obliquely with reference to the horizon, wherein an upper extremity (5’) of the carrier frame (5) is supported by the upstanding frame part (4), and a lower extremity (5”) of the carrier frame (5) is supported by the base frame part (2) or by an extension (2’) of the base frame part (2).

Transport and display trolley for flower containers
The invention relates to a transport and display trolley for flower containers, comprising a base frame part with wheels and an upstanding frame part mounted on the base frame part.
Such a transport and display trolley for flower containers is generally known from practice. This known trolley has several disadvantages, one of which is its inefficient use of space during transport both when loaded with flower containers, but also in case of return transport when the flower containers are empty or removed. Another disadvantage is the intensive handling requirements of the known trolley to load it with flower containers, and on the place of destination to remove the flower containers. This all requires a lot of human handling, and is therefore laborious and costly.
The transport and display trolley of the invention is proposed to improve on transportation efficiency as well as to reduce the required human effort for unloading the flower containers on the place of destination.
Accordingly in a first aspect of the invention the trolley comprises a carrier frame supported by said base frame part and said upstanding frame part, said carrier frame being provided with retainers for the flower containers and said carrier frame being arranged with at least two positions, a first position wherein the carrier frame is upright and essentially parallel to the upstanding frame part, and a second position wherein the carrier frame is slanting obliquely with reference to the horizon, wherein an upper extremity of the carrier frame is supported by the upstanding frame part, and a lower extremity of the carrier frame is supported by the base frame part or by an extension of the base frame part.
When the carrier frame is in the first position its occupation of space is reduced to a bare minimum, which makes transportation of the trolley of which the carrier frame forms a part very efficient, both in the situation that the trolley is loaded with flower containers as well as when the trolley is on a return transport. On the other hand the second position of the carrier frame of the trolley of the invention is beneficial for presentation of the flowers in the flower containers at the place of destination. This means that after transport and having arrived at the place of destination, the trolley is only required to be converted from the first position into the second position to provide a ready to use display for the transported flowers.
It has been found advantageous that the carrier frame is embodied as a parallelogram construction, wherein the retainers for the flower containers are mounted on said parallelogram construction so as to arrange that both in the first position and in the second position as well as during conversion from the first position to the second position or vice versa, the retainers for the flower containers can maintain their optimal orientation with reference to the horizon.
Suitably the carrier frame is slidably connected with the upstanding frame part, and that said carrier frame is slidably connected with the base frame part or with said extension of the base frame part. This reduces complexity of the construction of the trolley and makes its handling easy.
Handling of the trolley of the invention can be further promoted by the feature that the carrier frame is provided with a handle for moving the carrier frame between the first position and the second position.
Transportation efficiency can be promoted by arranging that the trolley is stackable.
The invention will hereinafter be further elucidated with reference to the drawing of an exemplary embodiment of a transport and display trolley for flower containers that is not limiting as to the appended claims.
In the drawing:
-figure 1 shows a transport and display trolley for flower containers in perspective view and in a transportation position; and
-figure 2 shows the transport and display trolley for flower containers of figure 1 in perspective view and in a display position.
Whenever in the figures the same reference numerals are applied, these numerals refer to the same parts.
Figure 1 and figure 2 show a transport and display trolley 1 for flower containers in a transportation position and in a display position, respectively. The transport and display trolley 1 comprises a base frame part 2 with wheels 3 and an upstanding frame part 4 mounted on the base frame part 2 .
Further the trolley 1 comprises a carrier frame 5 supported by said base frame part 2 and by said upstanding frame part 4, wherein said carrier frame 5 is provided with retainers 6 for the flower containers. Flower containers as such are known to the skilled person and are therefore not shown in the drawing, particularly also not because the flower containers as such do not embody the invention.
Figure 1 shows the carrier frame 5 in a first position wherein the carrier frame 5 is upright and essentially parallel to the upstanding frame part 4, whereas figure 2 shows the carrier frame 5 in a second position wherein the carrier frame 5 is slanting obliquely with reference to the horizon.
In both the first position and in the second position as well as in any intermediate position an upper extremity 5' of the carrier frame 5 is supported by the upstanding frame part 4, and a lower extremity 5'' of the carrier frame 5 is supported by the base frame part 2 or by an extension 2' of the base frame part 2. The extension 2' of the base frame part 2 is pivotably connected to said base frame part 2, as is clear by comparing figure 1 with figure 2.
Figure 1 and figure 2 further show that the carrier frame 5 is embodied as a parallelogram construction with parallel arms 7, wherein the retainers 6 for the flower containers are mounted on said parallelogram construction so as to arrange that in the first position (figure 1) and in the second position (figure 2) as well as during movement between the first position and the second position, the retainers 6 for the flower containers will always maintain their optimal (horizontal) orientation with reference to the horizon.
It is further remarked that the carrier frame 5 is slidably connected with the upstanding frame part 4, and that said carrier frame 5 is also slidably connected with the base frame part 2 or with said extension 2' of the base frame part 2 to make the conversion between the first position and the second position easy.
It is shown further that the carrier frame 5 is provided with a handle 8 for moving the carrier frame 5 between the first position and the second position.
Finally it is remarked that the trolley 1 is preferably stackable.
Although the invention has been discussed in the foregoing with reference to an exemplary embodiment of a transport and display trolley for flower containers according to the invention, the invention is not restricted to this particular embodiment which can be varied in many ways without departing from the invention. The discussed exemplary embodiment shall therefore not be used to construe the appended claims strictly in accordance therewith. On the contrary the embodiment is merely intended to explain the wording of the appended claims without intent to limit the claims to this exemplary embodiment. The scope of protection of the invention shall therefore be construed in accordance with the appended claims only, wherein a possible ambiguity in the wording of the claims shall be resolved using this exemplary embodiment.
Aspects of the invention are itemized in the following section.
1. Transport and display trolley (1) for flower containers, comprising a base frame part (2) with wheels (3) and an upstanding frame part (4) mounted on the base frame part (2), characterized in that the trolley (1) comprises a carrier frame (5) supported by said base frame part (2) and by said upstanding frame part (4), said carrier frame (5) being provided with retainers (6) for the flower containers and said carrier frame (5) being arranged with at least two positions, a first position wherein the carrier frame (5) is upright and essentially parallel to the upstanding frame part (4), and a second position wherein the carrier frame (5) is slanting obliquely with reference to the horizon, wherein an upper extremity (5') of the carrier frame (5) is supported by the upstanding frame part (4), and a lower extremity (5'') of the carrier frame (5) is supported by the base frame part (2) or by an extension (2') of the base frame part (2).
2. Transport and display trolley according to claim 1, characterized in that the carrier frame (5) is embodied as a parallelogram construction, wherein the retainers (6) for the flower containers are mounted on said parallelogram construction so as to arrange that in the first position and in the second position as well as during movement between the first position and the second position and vice versa, the retainers (6) for the flower containers maintain their orientation with reference to the horizon.
3. Transport and display trolley according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the carrier frame (5) is slidably connected with the upstanding frame part (4), and said carrier frame (5) is slidably connected with the base frame part (2) or with said extension (2') of the base frame part (2).
4. Transport and display trolley according to any one of claims 1-3, characterized in that the extension (2') of the base frame part (2) is pivotably connected to said base frame part (2).
5. Transport and display trolley according to any one of claims 1-4, characterized in that the carrier frame (5) is provided with a handle (8) for moving the carrier frame (5) between the first position and the second position.
6. Transport and display trolley according to any one of claims 1-5, characterized in that the trolley (1) is stackable .

1.
