Abstract

A child safety seat comprising an inner wall 100F, and an inner space 100S is enclosed by the inner wall where the seat further includes a buffer plate 500 layer and a first foam cushion 600 disposed in the inner space, and the first foam cushion is disposed between the buffer plate and the inner wall. The buffer plate may be more rigid than the first foam cushion. The buffer plate or first foam cushion or both may extend around a lateral or side or head or back rest portion of the child seat. A second foam cushion (700, Fig.6) may extend in front of the buffer plate. A first cover 800 may extend over the buffer plate (Fig.12). A second cover may extend over the first foam cushion. Upon collision, a child bumps into the buffer plate and the buffer plate is forced towards the first foam cushion so that a thrust surface area of the first foam cushion gets larger, leading to decreased pressure upon the first foam cushion.

Description

CHILD SAFETY SEAT WITH BUFFER FUNCTION
Background of the Invention 1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a child safety seat, and more particularly to a child safety seat with an enhanced buffer effect. 2. Description of the Prior Art A child safety seat is usually installed on a car seat for a child so as to ensure the child's safety. The child safety seat is connected to the car seat, and the child is secured on the child safety seat by fastening a seat belt. A cushion filled with foam is disposed between the child safety seat and the child to provide a buffer function for the child. When an emergency brake occurs or a driving direction is changing, the child bumps into the child safety seat and presses the cushion by inertial effect. The foam is deformed by absorbing a hitting force to preventing the child from harm.
However, when a larger hitting force is applied on the cushion, i.e., when each unit area of the cushion gets a larger hitting pressure accordingly, a thrust surface area of the foam is deformed extremely so that the cushion is not capable of providing enough buffer effect. Therefore, it is not able to ensure the child's safety effectively.

One buffer plate 500, one first foam cushion 600, and one second foam cushion 7 00 are disposed in both two lateral side portions of the body cushion 400 respectively. The first foam cushion 600 is close to the exterior surface 410 of the body cushion 400. The second foam cushion 700 is close to the interior surface 420 of the body cushion 400. The buffer plate 500 is disposed between the first foam cushion 600 and the second foam cushion 700. The body cushion 400 covers the buffer plate 500, the first foam cushion 600, and the second foam cushion 700. Furthermore, the buffer plate 500 including lateral parts located in the two lateral side portions of the body cushion 400 and extended to connect with a central part thereof in the middle portion of the body cushion 400 is jointly formed in a Ü shape corresponding to the second supporting wall 200F, and the second foam cushion 700 including lateral parts located in the two lateral side portions of the body cushion 400 and extended with a central part thereof in the middle portion of the body cushion 400 is jointly formed in a Ü shape corresponding to the second supporting wall 200F. A child's body abuts the body cushion 400 when the child is sitting on the child safety seat. When a driving direction is changing or a car gets hit, the child's body bumps into the body cushion 400 so as to apply a hitting force to the second foam cushion 700, the buffer plate 500, and the first foam cushion 600. Firstly, the second foam cushion 700 receives the hitting force and provides the buffer function. Next, the buffer plate 500 receives the hitting force and can increase a thrust surface area of the first foam cushion 600 to reduce a hitting pressure on each unit area of the first foam cushion 600, so that the first foam cushion 600 is capable of providing an enhanced buffer effect and cannot be extremely deformed. Therefore, it can enhance safety of the child safety seat. It should be noted that the second foam cushion 700 provides the buffer function in the beginning, and the buffer plate 500 has a certain degree of flexibility, so as to prevent the child from harm effectively.
According to FIG. 1 to FIG. 18, operational principles and functions of the child safety seat of the present invention are summarized as follows.
When a child is sitting on the child safety seat, the child's head abuts the head cushion 300 and the child's body abuts the body cushion 400. When a driving direction is changing or a car gets hit, the child's head bumps into the headrest 300 so that the buffer plate 500 and the first foam cushion 600 receive a hitting force. As the child's head is small, a thrust surface area of the buffer plate 500 is small accordingly. The buffer plate 500 increases the thrust surface area of the first foam cushion 600 and reduces a hitting pressure on each unit area of the first foam cushion 600 so that the first foam cushion 600 is capable of providing an enhanced buffer effect and cannot be extremely deformed. Hence, it can enhance safety of the child safety seat. It should be noted that the buffer plate 500 has a certain degree of flexibility for preventing the child from harm.
The child's body bumps into the body cushion 400 so that the second foam cushion 7 00, the buffer plate 500, and the first foam cushion 600 receive a hitting force. Firstly, the second foam cushion 700 receives the hitting force and absorbs the hitting force applied on the child's body. It should be noted that the second foam cushion 700 absorbs the hitting force applied on the child's body in the beginning, and the buffer plate 500 has a certain degree of flexibility so as to prevent the child from harm effectively.
In contrast to the prior art, the first foam cushion 600, the buffer plate 500, and the second foam cushion 7 00 are orderly disposed on the inner wall F of the child safety seat. When an emergency brake occurs or a driving direction is changing, the child bumps into the second foam cushion 700 by the inertial effect and the second foam cushion 700 can provide a buffer effect to the child. Then, the buffer plate 500 is forced to hit the first foam cushion 600 and can increase the a thrust surface area of the first foam cushion 600 so as to reduce a hitting pressure on each unit area of the first foam cushion 600. Thus the first foam cushion is not extremely deformed, the impact resistance of the child safety seat is enhanced, and the safety of the child safety seat can be improved greatly.
