Description

Plastic cup sealing segment with a sleeve cap Technology field
The invention concerns the sealing segment of a plas-5 tic cup with a sleeve cap made of plastic or paper.
Current state of the art
The packaging technology, in particular that of the dairy industry, uses plastic cups that are, together with the 10 dairy product, sealed by an aluminium cap. A sleeve cap is fixed on the plastic cup over the aluminium cap, in the sleeve cap are usually positioned flavouring fills, admixtures or other objects, as for example cereals, toys etc. The sleeve cap is usually snapped onto the plastic cup upper edge, with-15 out it being safeguarded in any way against accidental removal by mishandling or intentional misappropriation. Disadvantage of this method of the sleeve cap fixing to the plastic cup is therefore the fact that any time the sleeve cap can be unwittingly removed or it may just fall away from the cup, or it 20 can be misappropriated prior to selling it to the end-user. Thus the product is degraded.
For the purpose of making cup designs, a printed sleeve film is used, but only the bottom part of the cup is wrapped up by this film, i.e. the part filled with foodstuff 25 product, while the sleeve cap is not covered by the printed sleeve film.
The basis of the technical design
Known disadvantages in providing or designing plastic 30 cups with a connected sleeve cap can be to a large extent removed by a sealing segment in accordance to this invention.
The substance of the invention consists in that heat-shrinkable sleeve wrap is pulled over the connecting elements in the connecting point between the plastic cup and the sleeve 35 cap. Pulling the sleeve wrap over the connecting point starts on the vertical side of the sleeve cap and ends on the vertical side of the cup.
In order to attain the connection between the plastic cup and sleeve cap in a single production operation, and also 2 to attain any designing of plastic cup, the heat-shrinkable wrap is led from the upper horizontal side of the sleeve cap as far as to the cup bottom edge.
According to other advantageous embodiment of the in-5 vention, the heat-shrinkable wrap is pulled over as far as the plastic cup bottom edge, thus ending beyond the cup bottom edge.
According to other advantageous embodiment of the invention, the heat-shrinkable wrap is pulled over as far as the 10 upper edge to the horizontal side of the sleeve cap.
According to other advantageous embodiment of the invention, the heat-shrinkable wrap is also pulled over the sleeve cap upper horizontal side, i.e. the heat-shrinkable wrap forms the package reaching as far as the cup bottom.
15 According to other advantageous embodiment of the in vention, the heat-shrinkable wrap is also pulled over the cup bottom.
According to other advantageous embodiment of the invention, the heat-shrinkable wrap is pulled along the circum-20 ference of the connected sleeve cap and plastic cup, i.e. making the wrap around the entire product. It is useful when the heat-shrinkable wrap is the sleeve wrap.
Advantage of the invention is that it joins two production steps into one. Partly, it protects any undesirable 25 tearing or removal of the sleeve cap from the plastic cup, which deals with the issue how to safeguard the wrapping and in the second step it deals with the product design too.
Overview of the figures in the drawings 30 FIG. 1 - schematic sketch of the plastic cup with a connected sleeve cap, heat-shrinkable wrap is pulled over the joint.
FIG. 2 - schematic sketch of the plastic cup with a connected sleeve cap, with shrink wrap pulled over the cap 35 starting from the sleeve cap upper horizontal side reaching as far as the plastic cup bottom.
FIG. 3 - schematic sketch of the plastic cup with a connected sleeve cap and the shrink wrap pulled over it 3 reaching also over the sleeve cap upper horizontal side and going as far as the plastic cup bottom.
FIG. 4 - schematic sketch of the plastic cup with a connected sleeve cap and the shrink wrap pulled over it 5 starting from the sleeve cap vertical side and go ing as far as the cup bottom.

Description of the exemplary embodiment
Fig. 1 is a schematic sketch of the plastic cup 1 to which eg. a snap-on sleeve cap 2 is fixed. Through the connection point A between the cup 1 and sleeve cap 2, there is 15 pulled over a sealing segment 3, which is a heat-shrinkable wrap _3. This sleeve wrap _3 partially reaches to the horizontal sides 2.1 of the sleeve cap 2 and further to horizontal sides 2.1 of the plastic cup 1. The point of connection _4 between the plastic cup 1 and the sleeve cap 2 is thus safeguarded 20 against any unwanted removal of the sleeve cap 2 and also protects the point of connection A_ from any damage. Prior to eating or drinking any dairy product, the sleeve wrap 3_ must be first removed from the point of connection A_ in order to do away with the sleeve cap 2.
25 Fig. 2 - schematic sketch of the plastic cup 1 with a connected sleeve cap 2, with the sleeve cap 2 being covered by the sleeve wrap 3^, made of one piece of material, starting from the sleeve cap 2 upper vertical side 2.1 and through the point of connection _4 and further over the vertical side 1.1 30 of the cup 1 as far as to the edge 1.3 on the bottom 1.2 of the plastic cup 1. Provided the sleeve wrap 3^ also contains any design elements, then plastic cup 1 product design is attained in a single production operation and the point of connection A_ between the cup 1 and sleeve cap 2_is thus sealed.
35 In accordance with exemplary embodiment shown in Fig.
3, the sleeve wrap _3 is also pulled over the sleeve cap 2 upper horizontal side 2.2 and it ends on the vertical side 1.1 on the cup 1 bottom 1.2.
4 FIG. 2 and 3 further shows by the dotted line the execution with the sleeve wrap being pulled over as far as the edge 1.3 of the cup 1 bottom 1.2. This method of pulling over the sleeve wrap _3 will safeguard a higher degree of safety.
5 In another example in FIG. 2, the sleeve wrap .3 is pulled over beyond the edge 2.3 of the sleeve cap 2, which is represented by dotted line.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the sleeve wrap 3^ is pulled over from the vertical side 2.1 of the 10 sleeve cap 2, further over the connection 4_, over the cup vertical side 1.1 and also over the cup bottom 1.2, i.e. it makes the wraparound from the cup bottom 1.2 reaching as far as the sleeve cap 2_ vertical side 2.1.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in Fig. 5, the 15 sleeve wrap 3^ is pulled along the circumference of the connected sleeve cap 2 and the plastic cup 1, i.e. over the upper horizontal side 2.2 and further over the vertical side 2.1 of the sleeve cap 2, through the point of connection 4_, over the vertical side 1.1 and through the cup 1 bottom 1.2. The sleeve 20 wrap forms the wrapping around the sleeve cap 2 linked with the cup 1.
The production procedure is as follows: the plastic cup 1 is filled with the product, eg. dairy product, the product is capped by an aluminium or plastic cap in the further 25 step, then follows manual or mechanical mounting of a closed or unclosed sleeve cap 2_ onto the cup 1, thereafter this unit goes further down the line where a sleeve wrap 3^ drops down on it, in this moment still not shrunk, this sleeve wrap travels further down the line through steam, hot water or hot air, 30 this makes the sleeve wrap 3_, which has an infinite capability to elastically shrink after being heated, wrap around the cup 1, connection £ in between the cup and sleeve cap 2 and also around and over the sleeve cap 2j_ all in compliance with the given examples.
