Description
P31591NLOO/JKO Title: Tobacco pouch
The invention relates to a tobacco pouch formed from a pliable sheet material. Such tobacco pouches are provided in different forms.
A problem of the tobacco pouches is that during the time the tobacco pouch is used, the tobacco located in the tobacco pouch tends to lose its freshness.
The tobacco pouch according the invention provides an improved, or at least alternative tobacco pouch. The tobacco pouch according the invention is formed from a pliable sheet material. Said tobacco pouch comprises; - a first compartment for holding tobacco, which first compartment has a first bottom part formed by folding the sheet material, a first front wall and a first back wall extending from the first bottom part and connected to each other along a first left side by a first left connection and along a first right side by a first right connection, which first left connection and first right connection extend from the first bottom part to a first entrance providing access to a first inner space defined by the first bottom part, the first front wall and the first back wall, and wherein the sheet material of the first back wall extends beyond the first entrance to from a first flap to cover said first entrance and at least part of the first front wall, - a second compartment for holding tobacco, which second compartment has a second bottom part formed by folding the sheet material, a second front wall and a second back wall extending from the second bottom part and connected to each other along a second left side by a second left connection and a second right side by a second right connection, which second left connection and second right connection extend from the second bottom part to a second entrance providing access to a second inner space defined by the second bottom part, the second front wall and the second back wall, and wherein the sheet material of the second back wall extends beyond the second entrance to from a second flap to cover said second entrance and at least part of the second front wall, and wherein -- the tobacco pouch is formed from a single sheet of the sheet material, -- the first inner space and second inner space are separated from each other, and - the first compartment is directly or indirectly connected to the second compartment.
Tobacco is stored in the two separated compartments. This means that when a user starts to use the tobacco of the tobacco pouch for the first time, the user only needs to open one of the compartments to reach the tobacco. The user can subsequently continue to use that specific compartment until all the tobacco of said compartment is used. This way, the other compartment remains closed during the period that the tobacco of the first opened compartment is used. As a result of this, the tobacco in said other compartment keeps its freshness.
Due to the fact that the tobacco pouch is formed from a single sheet of sheet material allows it to be produced in a very fast and efficient manner.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, the tobacco pouch comprises a third compartment, which third compartment has a third bottom part formed from folded sheet material, a third front wall and a third back wall extending from the third bottom part and connected to each other along a third left side by a third left connection and along a third right side by a third right connection, which third left connection and third right connection extend from the third bottom part to a third entrance providing access to a third inner space defined by the third bottom part, the third front wall and the third back wall, the third inner space is separated from the first inner space and the second inner space, and the third compartment is directly connected to at least one of the first compartment and the second compartment.

Due to this, the first compartment and the second compartment can physically be separated from each other. This allows a user to for example remove the first compartment once it is empty in order to reduce the volume of the tobacco pouch containing tobacco. It is also possible that the user splits the first compartment and second compartment both containing tobacco so that only one compartment (and therefore smaller tobacco pouch) needs to be carried around.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, each compartment is connected to the rest of the tobacco pouch at its left side and/or right side.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, the flaps of neighbouring compartments are connected to each other.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, the flaps of neighbouring compartments are not connected to each other.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, the third compartment is directly connected to the first compartment and the second compartment, and the first compartment and second compartment are indirectly connected to each other via the third compartment.
In an embodiment of the tobacco pouch according to the invention, the compartments are pivotable relative to each other to position the compartments parallel to each other. This provides a compact configuration of the tobacco pouch.

The figures 1-4 show a view in perspective of a first embodiment of the tobacco pouch 1 according to the invention. The tobacco pouch 1 is formed from a pliable sheet material 2 and comprises a first compartment 10 for holding tobacco. The first compartment 10 has a first bottom part 11 formed by folding the sheet material 2, a first front wall 12 and a first back wall 13 extending from the first bottom part 11 and connected to each other along a first left side 17 by a first left connection 14 and along a first right side 19 by a first right connection 15. The first left connection 14 and first right connection 15 extend from the first bottom part 11 to a first entrance 16 providing access to a first inner space defined by the first bottom part 11, the first front wall 12 and the first back wall 13. The sheet material 2 of the first back wall 13 extends beyond the first entrance 16 to from a first flap 18. The flap can be used to cover the first entrance 16 and at least part of the first front wall 12.
The tobacco pouch 1 further comprises a second compartment 20 for holding tobacco. The second compartment 20 has a second bottom part 21 formed by folding the sheet material 2, a second front wall 22 and a second back wall 23 extending from the second bottom part 21 and connected to each other along a second left side 27 by a second left connection 24 and along a second right 29 side by a second right connection 25. The second left connection 24 and second right connection 25 extend from the second bottom part 21 to a second entrance 26 providing access to a second inner space defined by the second bottom part 21, the second front wall 22 and the second back wall 23. The sheet material 2 of the second back wall 23 extends beyond the second entrance 26 to from a second flap 28 to cover said second entrance 26 and at least part of the second front wall 22.
The tobacco pouch 1 is formed from a single sheet of the sheet material 2. Said sheet is shown in fig. 5. This allows to produce the tobacco pouch 1 in a very fast and efficient manner.
The first inner space and second inner space are separated from each other. This means that there is no interaction (such as a fluid communication) between the first and second inner space. Tobacco is stored in the two separated compartments 10, 20. This means that when a user starts to use the tobacco of the tobacco pouch 1 for the first time, the user only needs to open one of the compartments 10, 20 to reach the tobacco. The user can subsequently continue to use that specific compartment (e.g. 10) until all the tobacco of said compartment is used. This way, the other compartment (e.g. 20) remains closed during the period that the tobacco of the first opened compartment (e.g. 10) is used. As a result of this, the tobacco in said other compartment (e.g. 20) keeps its freshness.
The first compartment 10 is directly connected to the second compartment 20. The first compartment 10 and the second compartment 20 are interconnected via a line 40 of weakened sheet material 2 to manually tear said compartments 10, 20 loose from each other. The line 40 of weakened sheet material can be formed by incisions and/or perforations in the sheet material 2 along said line 40. Due to this, the first compartment 10 and the second compartment 20 can physically be separated from each other. This allows a user to for example remove the first compartment 10 once it is empty in order to reduce the volume of the tobacco pouch 1 containing tobacco. It is also possible that the user splits the first compartment 10 and second compartment 20 both containing tobacco so that only one compartment (and therefore smaller tobacco pouch) needs to be carried around.
Each compartment 10, 20 is connected to the rest of the tobacco pouch at its left side and/or right side. In this embodiment, the first right side 15 of the first compartment 10 is connected to the second left side 27 of the second compartment 20.
The flaps 18, 28 of neighbouring compartments 10, 20 are connected to each other. In this embodiment, the flaps 18, 28 of the first compartment 10 and second compartment 20 are interconnected.
The line 40 of weakened sheet material 2 extends through the sheet material 2 forming the front walls, back walls and flaps of the compartments 10, 20.
The first compartment 10 and second compartment 20 are pivotable relative to each other to position the first compartment 10 and second compartment 20 parallel to each other. This situation is shown in fig. 3. The first compartment 10 and the second compartment 20 are positioned on top of each other. This provides a compact configuration of the tobacco pouch 1.
The first compartment 10 comprises a first zip seal 45 having a first back strip 46 connected to the first back wall 13 and a cooperating first front strip 47 connected to the first front wall 12. The second compartment 20 comprises a second zip seal 48 having a second back strip 49 connected to the second back wall 23 and a cooperating second front strip 50 connected to the second front wall 22. During production of the tobacco pouch 1, the zip seals 45, 48 are attached to the single sheet of sheet material 2 of which the tobacco pouch 1 is formed. The zip seals 45, 48 allow the user to seal the compartments 10, 20 so that the tobacco remains fresh.
In fig. 4, the first entrance 16 of the first compartment 10 and the second entrance 26 of the second compartment 20 are opened.
Figure 5 shows a top view of the folded out sheet material 2 of the tobacco pouch 1 of fig. 1-4. The following aspects are indicated; - the folding line 41 for forming the bottom parts 11, 21 of the compartments 10, 20, - the front walls 12, 22 and back walls 13, 23 of the compartments 10, 20, - the left connections 14, 24 and right connections 15, 25 of the compartments 10, 20, - the position of the front strips 47, 50 and back strips 46, 49 of the compartments 10, 20, - the flaps 18, 28 of the compartments 10, 20, - the line 40 of weakened sheet material 2.
