Abstract

1535816 Dynamo-electric machines SIEMENS AG 23 June 1976 [7 July 1975] 26005/76 Heading H2A In an electric drive device comprising a stator and rotor carrying a first pair of windings together forming a series commutator motor and a second pair of windings together forming an induction motor providing a lower output speed than the series motor, the supersynchronous braking torque of the induction motor is reduced when the device is running at a speed higher than the synchronous speed of the induction motor. The stator and rotor are slotted, laminated bodies, some of the slots on both stator and rotor accommodating coil sides of the windings of both motors. The induction motor secondary winding comprises coils connected in series to form a closed circuit. This closed circuit may be interrupted by a centrifugal switch at speeds above the synchronous speed of the induction motor. Alternatively the same effect can be achieved by winding the induction motor to have a higher pole number than the series motor.
