Description

Packaging is often designed to enclose and protect one type of uniform filling material. Examples of such filling goods are meat, gypsum powder or coffee. In these cases, the barrier properties of the package are aligned with the requirements that such a filling material places on, for example, shelf life or hygiene.

Sometimes, however, a package must bundle two disparate filling goods. It is not always sufficient here to enclose both dissimilar filling goods with a uniform barrier property. Examples of this are fresh meat and supplied dried herbs, a liquid base paint and powdered pigment or yogurt and fruits.

In order to be able to bundle disparate filling goods in a package, a package must have different compartments with different barrier properties.

The invention described here is a packaging made of folding cardboard which has several compartments with different barrier properties at low cost. In particular, the invention has a hermetic compartment and a breathable compartment. The hermetic compartment is so dense that it can contain not only dry, but also liquid filling goods.

The package essentially consists of a configuration of a cardboard part divided into panels and an inner bag which is closed at the bottom and open at the top.

The packaging has two forms: The first form is the way the packaging looks, immediately after its production. The package now has a flat shape. The second appearance is how the package looks emit, after it has been set up to, for example, be filled. The packaging form now has a three-dimensional form.

The cardboard is divided into hinged panels in such a way that the assembled package has two compartments. The base surface of the package (see Figure 1) has a total width (a) and a depth (b). The width of the breathable compartment is (c), while the width of the hermetic compartment is the difference of the total width (a) and the width of the breathable compartment (c). Both compartments have the same depth (b). The inner bag has a width (f) in its flattened state equal to the sum of the width of the hermetic compartment (a-c) and the depth (b). See also figure 2.

An important feature of the invention is that in production the inner bag can be applied to the cardboard part when the cardboard is still flat and has not yet been folded or glued. This makes it possible to apply the inner bag at a high speed and thus to add it to the cardboard at low costs. See figure 2 for the cardboard part without and with inner bag, before it is folded. The inner bag is preferably glued only along the top side (d) of the flat-lying cardboard part. It is essential that the inner bag protrudes above the top (d).

Body parts (1) can be recognized in the cardboard part: from these panels the side walls and thus the body of the packaging will arise. From the panels above (2) a collar will emerge that stands on the side wall. This collar is equipped with diagonal folding lines (5). To close the package, the collar will be folded inwards along these lines after the package has been put on. Because the inner bag on top (d) is glued with the collar, the inner bag will be folded with the set-up.

A closing valve (3) can be recognized. In the set-up state, this closing valve ensures the closed top is locked. See also figure 4.

The bottom panels (4) are optional. There are many embodiments thereof that do not determine the essence of the invention. A bottom can be formed from these panels, either during the production of the package or during the set-up of the package.

The panels are selected in such a way that the cardboard with the inner bag fastened thereon can be produced with conventional folding cardboard machines with only two folding movements in the longitudinal direction of the packaging and machine. With only two folding movements, it is now possible to produce the package in one machine pass. See figure 3 for the folding order that divides the trunk into two compartments and closes the trunk.

In a first folding movement, the panels with strip 7 attached thereto are folded over a first folding line (I). Strip 7 lands on zone 8 to be glued there. This forms the breathable compartment. In a second folding movement, said breathable compartment is folded over a second folding line (II). The inner bag is now enclosed and the outer longitudinal seam is formed by gluing zone 9 with the folded panels. After gluing this longitudinal joint - apart from optional operations on the bottom panels - the assembly of the package is ready.

Once produced, the cardboard and inner bag configuration is flat. This saves on storage and transport costs.

The described configuration of cardboard and inner bag is supplied flat and set up in its final three-dimensional form for filling. During set-up, the two compartments are also brought into three-dimensional form. One compartment that is only surrounded by cardboard (10); This is the breathable compartment. The second compartment contains the inner pocket. This is the hermetic compartment (11). See figures 4 and 5.

When setting up the configuration, the inner bag is also automatically opened and faithfully follows the contours of the cardboard part of the hermetic compartment. Thus, only one operation is required to make the package ready for use and the package can be filled in both compartments. The inner pocket protrudes above the collar (2). This means that when the package is closed, by folding in along the diagonal folding lines (5), the inner bag is closed along the top (d). It is important that the diagonal fold lines of the partition wall are folded toward the center of the hermetic compartment. When the breathable compartment is small relative to the hermetic compartment, this happens automatically because the diagonal fold lines on the outside of the breathable compartment press the diagonal fold lines of the intermediate wall in that direction during the closing of the package.

By securing the closure with flap (3), the part of the inner bag protruding above the top is also squeezed extra. The closure thus obtained is dust and liquid tight. Preferably, however, the inner bag is not only folded over after sealing, but is also sealed shut.

The special configuration of panels in the collar makes it possible to close all compartments of the package in a single operation.

The same configuration also makes it possible to open the package. To do this, a user must open the closing valve (3). In the case that the inner bag is welded up along the top, the user must also cut or cut the weld. If the weld is removed far above the top (d), it is possible to reclose the package by folding over the remaining piece of inner bag that still protrudes above the top and securing it with the closing flap (3).

When the package is closed after filling, the situation arises that the compartment with the inner bag on top is hermetically sealed, while the compartment is sealed dust-tight without the inner bag.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the compartment with the inner bag has a square base surface, because the best closure of the inner bag is thereby obtained at the height of the upper edge (d).

In a further preferred embodiment the non-hermetically sealed compartment has a scattering device, wherein the scattering device in the production is an integral part of the cardboard part. This means that the cardboard section also consists of one piece in this special case.

In a further preferred embodiment, the hermetically sealed compartment has a prepared location for perforating the inner bag. The prepared location can for instance be a cut-out from the collar of the cardboard, with which direct access to the inner bag is granted, perforation of the inner bag can then be done with a finger or sharp object.

Claims (3)

A folding carton with an inner bag that is closed at the bottom and extends above the top of the carton, the folding carton being divided into two compartments with a first compartment formed from cardboard walls containing the inner bag and a second compartment formed from only walls of cardboard, characterized in that the first compartment has a ground surface which is square and the cardboard part above the body part has a collar part with two diagonal folding lines on two sides demarking triangles, which triangles are pressed inwards to close the package and the tops of which touch each other in the first compartment after closing. A package according to claim 1, wherein a closing flap (3) is hinged to the collar part with which the bag extending above the folding carton is folded over and locked; A package according to claim 1, wherein the body is formed from a flat sheet of cardboard with two parallel fold lines in the longitudinal direction of the package, wherein folding along a first folding line (I) forms the second compartment and wherein folding along a second (II ) folding line forms a first compartment that encloses the flat inner bag between the second folding line (11) and the outer longitudinal seam of the body;
