Abstract

The cushion comprises a filling made of sprung material, over which extends a covering, the whole upper surface of which is attached to the filling. The thickness of the cushion is at least a factor 10 less than the dimensions of the cushion in a direction extending crossways over it. The cushion (5,8) is firmly connected with a frame (2) of a garden chair (1), where it can form a back rest or a seat surface. The filling is prepared from foam and during the formation of the foam the covering is adhered to it.

FURNITURE WITH FIXED-CROWN CUSHIONS

The present invention relates to a cushion comprising a filling made of resilient material and a covering extending around it.

Such cushions are generally known.

When designing seating furniture, the desire arises to include such a cushion in a piece of furniture, thereby increasing seating comfort. This relates inter alia to furniture in which cushioning is only supported at its edges and the cushion, particularly when a person is seated thereon, is tensioned between these attached edges.

In this case, the cushion serves as a substitute for pieces of textile which are usually incorporated in such structures.

When such a cushion belonging to the state of the art is used for this, it often lubts out, which results in a less attractive appearance, and it reduces seating comfort.

The object of the present invention is to provide such a cushion that is suitable for these applications, and in which fouling is prevented as much as possible.

This object is achieved in that the coating is adhered to the filling over substantially its entire surface.

The cushion thus produced is secured in the chair 1 by moving the cushion with the bags into the seat supports 3, 4. It will be clear that instead of the attachment by means of the tendons, other types of constructions are used, such as by means of snap fasteners, arranging a bag around the posts and the like.

It will also be clear that after fitting of the cushions, the respective free ends of the shelves 3, 4 or the back posts 6, 7 respectively are closed by means of sealing caps.

In principle, it is possible to manufacture such a cushion by rigidly connecting a filling in any way to the surrounding coating, for example by means of glue, allowing the filling to partially melt, and so on.

However, it has been found by the inventor that a particularly attractive method of manufacture is obtained when use is made of a foam material as a filling and the foam material hardens in the presence of 1 Cl. A1 flQ __________
