Abstract

The canoe (2) is made in two parts joined by a hinge (12). The halves fold together to form a container (1) that rests in shaped brackets (5) on the roof rack of a car. It is secured by two straps (7) and buckles (6). The container (1) is removed from the car using the hand grips (8). Unfolded, it is bolted (9) in the open position to form a canoe 4.8m long and 0.88m wide. With the gunwale inflated, the height is 0.56m. The weight is 35kg. Removal of the hinge pin (12) allows the halves to be used separately.
