Abstract

The seat (8) is located in a recess in the side of the vehicle, with safety bars (3) at its sides conforming to the shape of the vehicle side. The seat has a padded back (9), and the recess has a footrest (10) below the seat which is equipped with a folding step (20) hinged to the footrest. The step folds down to give access to the seat and folds up again when not in use. A safety strap (50) passes across the frame in front of the seat. USE/ADVANTAGE - A side-facing passenger-carrying seat, e.g. for a vehicle such as a fire engine.
