Abstract

A frame (7) with jacks (11) is mounted on the foundation (6), and lifts a top section (12) of the building to allow insertion of another section below it. The frame has a top opening through which each section can pass, this being lifted by the jacks to a level above the opening. The section can then be secured to the frame while the jacks are uncoupled from it and lowered to engage with the next section below. The lifted section can be supported in the frame by a further part of the building inserted below it, or there can be two sets of jacks coupled to alternate building sections.
