Abstract
A fluid on-off valve (10, 11) is formed of a brass alloy having a lead content of 1000 ppm or less and containing Sn in an amount of 0.8% or more, and the fluid on-off valve (10, 11) is disposed in a refrigerant circuit to be used for an air conditioner or the like. When the fluid on-off valve (10, 11) is interposed between refrigerant pipings (8, 29a, 9, 29) for use, the stress corrosion cracking of the valve can be prevented and an environmental load can be reduced even in an enviromnent in which the valve is exposed to an atmosphere containing much ammonia, and is higher in temperature than the atmosphere and easily reacts with ammonia. The brass alloy may further contain Bi in an amount of 1.6% or more. Figure3
