Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of producing an article suitable for use as a bioflocculant or a biosorbent for waste material and heavy metal removal. The method preferably comprises the steps of culturing cells from a bioflocculant-producing bacterium in a culture medium up to a log phase of bacteria growth (100); harvesting and separating the culture cells of said bacterium from the culture medium (200), wherein the harvesting includes centrifugation; and fixing the harvested cells of bioflocculant-producing bacterium by subjecting the same to treatment with formaldehyde (300), characterized in that, the fixed cells of said article are dead cells of the bioflocculant-producing bacterium that has the same bioflocculant activity with living cells.
