Abstract
A method for producing a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sulfate, the method including: a sulfation step of reacting an SO3-containing gas with an ethylene oxide adduct of an alkyl alcohol having a carbon number of 8 to 22, thereby obtaining a sulfated product of the ethylene oxide adduct, and a neutralization step of neutralizing the sulfated product to obtain a sulfate, wherein the ethylene oxide adduct contains at least 0.01 % by mass but not more than 1 % by mass of an alkali metal hydroxide relative to the total mass of the ethylene oxide adduct.
