Abstract

THE INVENTION RELATES TO A STABILIZING ELEMENT (42) FOR USE IN COMBINATION WITH A FACING ELEMENT (40) OF A MECHANICALLY STABILIZED EARTHEN WORK. THE STABILIZING ELEMENT (42) COMPRISES FIRST AND SECOND LONGITUDINALLY EXTENDING AND LATERALLY SPACED METAL TENSILE PORTIONS (148, 150) AND A PLURALITY OF LONGITUDINALLY SPACED METAL CROSS MEMBERS (152, 154, 156) CONNECTING THE METAL TENSILE PORTIONS (148, 150) AND MAINTAINING THEM AT THEIR LATERAL SPACING. THE STABILIZING ELEMENT (42) FURTHER COMPRISES CONNECTING MEANS (144, 146) TO CONNECT THE STABILIZING ELEMENT (42) TO A FACING ELEMENT (40) OF THE MECHANICALLY STABILIZED EARTHEN WORK, THE CONNECTING MEANS (144, 146) BEING SUCH AS TO BE ENGAGEABLE WITH A VERTICALLY EXTENDING PIN OR ROD OR BAR OR RIB (62, 64) PROVIDED ON THE FACING ELEMENT (40) TO CONNECT THE STABILIZING ELEMENT (42) TO THE FACING ELEMENT (40).(FIG 14)
