IN AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLES COMPRISING AN AIR DUCT WHICH HAS A PLURALITY OF AIR DISCHARGE PORTS FOR RESPECTIVE AIR CONDITIONING MODES,THE OPENING/CLOSING OPERATIONS OF THE RESPECTIVE AIR DISCHARGE PORTS ARE CONTROLLED BY USING A PLATE-LIKE MEMBER, WHICH IS MOVABLE IN ITS LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION AND HAS A FLEXIBILITY IN ITS LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION AND A RIGIDITY IN ITS TRANSVERSE DIRECTION, THE PLATE-LIKE MEMBER IS WOUND IN A CYLINDRICAL FORM IN THE AIR DUCT. WHILE THE DESIGN FREEDOM OF THE AIR DISCHARGE PORT CONTROL MECHANISM CAN BE GREATLY INCREASED, THE AIR DUCT, ULTIMATELY THE WHOLE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CAN BE MADE SMALL-SIZED.(FIG 1)
