Description
ONE BOTTLE OUE HAS A PENDANT TOOL
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an elastic blow molded bottle having a hanging tool provided in the neck portion thereof. 2. Background of the Art It is known to injection mold a preform having a handle which is formed integrally and extended longitudinally and towards
below this a lateral surface placed below a threaded portion of a neck of the
W preform and stretch blow mold the preform into a bottle having a thin body wall from a distal end of the neck to
a lower part so that a bottle having an integral handle is obtained. This longitudinally long handle is thick, so that it ensures some resistance. If a resin is used as a material to mold the
bottle will be polyethylene terephthalate, although it has some hardness and no additional process is provided after injection molding, it lacks an impact resistance. This can cause damage to the handle portion when the bottle filled with contents accidentally falls down into the floor of a shelf and the like. Therefore, as shown in the Figure
4, there is provided a bottle which is integrally provided in its lower portion with its neck portion 2 of a bottle body 1 with a flexible, flat hanging tool 3 which is long in the transverse direction. The hanging tool 3 of the bottle 1 constructed in the manner described above is flexible in a narrow portion 30 of the hanging tool 3 and the bottle hung on the finger can be carried on an annular finger by engaging the tongue 3a. Further, since the pendant tool 3 is formed flat and thin it requires less amount of resin material than a conventional handle and even if the pendant tool is bent in the narrow portion, it can restore the pendant tool. Therefore, it is not necessary to secure a space for the hanging tool 3 when the bottle is packed in a box.
However, in the above-described bottle having the flexible pendant tool also, the pendant tool 3 is formed integrally at the time of the injection molding of the preform 10 as shown in Figure 5, and if it is required to extend the width of the hanging portion for the finger so that the bottle can be easily attached. Therefore, there is a problem that the
* injection mold to mold the preform 10 with
the flexible hanging tool 3 becomes bigger. That is, in the mold for injection, a flat cavity is formed for the hanging tool between the separation surface of a mold A for
used in the molding of the neck portion and a mold B for use in the molding of the body and the
- lower part, molten resin is injected and loaded from the neck portion, thus molding all the preform by injection. However, in order
In order to sufficiently expand the mold of the pendant portion for the pendant tool, it is necessarily required to design the injection mold so that the flat cavity for the pendant tool projects outwardly from the neck portion of the preform and such design complicates and enlarges the injection mold. The present invention has been achieved to solve the problems described above and it is an object of the invention to provide a bottle having a hanging tool, which can be sufficiently produced while the elongation of the injection mold for a preform is suppressed, by molding separate from a flat, flexible connection portion which is integrally formed with a neck portion of the preform and a handle portion which detachably connects to the connection portion and is molded separately, thereby forming the hanging tool which will be provided to the neck portion of the bottle.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
To achieve the above object, according to the present invention, there is provided a bottle having a hanging tool, the hanging tool being formed on one side of the lower bottle to a threaded portion of a neck portion thereof at the time of the injection molding of a preform, a portion of the bottle corresponds to a distal end of the lower neck portion smaller than the hanging tool to form a thin lower part by stretch blow molding, wherein the hanging tool comprises a long connecting portion and extending the lateral portions from the neck portion and having a shorter length than an outer diameter of the lower part of the bottle and a wide annular handle portion molded separately, the connecting portion being provided in its intermediate portion with a narrow portion crossing the connecting portion transversely to reduce a thickness of the same, thereby making the vertically flexible connecting portion in the narrow portion, a free end of the connecting portion and a handle portion being formed in its predetermined locations with joint portions comprising a pair of coupling means for connecting the handle portion detachably to the connection portion. The bottle is made of thermoplastic resin including, for example, polyester resin such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, and polypropylene. In the case of a bottle made of polypropylene as resin by molding, the flexibility of the hanging tool is increased due to the property of the polypropylene. In the case of a bottle made of polyethylene terephthalate, even if the connection portion remains injection molded, the free end thereof exhibits flexibility due to the molecular orientation of the narrow portion. Therefore, as the bending strength and impact resistance of the connecting portion are increased so that the connecting portion can hardly break if it is thin.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The above objects and advantage and others to the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments of the invention together with the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a view for explaining a bottle having a hanging tool according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a side view of the bottle as in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a side view showing a state where the bottle having the hanging tool hangs down; Figure 4 is a plan view of a conventional bottle having a hanging tool; and Figure 5 is a side view of a preform of the conventional bottle having the hanging tool. 10 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITIES
Figures 1 to 3 show an embodiment of the present invention. In Figure 1, a number of
Reference 1 designates a bottle made of polyethylene terephthalate having a portion 2
* of the injection molded neck and a portion of the bottle from a distal end of the neck portion 2 to a portion of the body and a portion
The lower one is made thin by stretch blow molding. The neck portion 2 is formed with a thread or screw (not shown) and for example a support ring is formed in a portion of the neck
2 under the thread. The support ring is integrally formed on one side with a connecting portion 3. A separately molded annular handle portion 4 is attached to a free end of the connecting portion 3, so as to form a bottle having a hanging tool . The connecting portion 3 is formed in a flat, long configuration to project the side portions so that a length thereof does not exceed an external diameter of the bottle. A thickness of the connecting portion 3 is reduced by a narrow portion 30 formed in a widthwise direction so that the free end of the connecting portion 3 is bent vertically. The narrow portion 30 has some strength and flexibility due to the molecular orientation of the resin generated in the injection molding. The thickness of the narrow portion preferably of 0.7 mm or less, more preferably 0.5 mm or less, and even more preferably 0.3 mm or less. The handle portion 4 comprises a finger, annular which engages with tongue 4a which is wider than the connecting portion 3. The portion 4a for hanging the finger is formed with an insertion hole of the tip of the finger. The periphery of the insertion hole of the finger tip is reinforced by projecting edges projecting up and down so as to lighten a load on the inserted fingers. A joint portion is formed in a pair, by the free end of the connecting portion 3 and the handle portion so that the handle portion 4 can be connected to the connecting portion 3 detachably. The linear portion shown in the
* drawings includes a hole 31 in the shape of a man
formed at the free end of the connection portion 3 and a flange engagement projection 41 formed on a predetermined portion of the handle portion 4. In this case, a diameter of a small diameter portion 31a of the
man-shaped hole in snow 31 and a diameter of an arrow projection
* coupling 41 are formed substantially equal with each other. Therefore, inserting the projection of
Coupling 41 in the large portion of snow man-shaped hole 31b diameter 31b to slide the entire handle portion 4 towards the small diameter portion 31a, the connecting portion 3 and the handle portion 4 are integrally connected.
More specifically, the coupling projection 41 fits into the small diameter portion 31a of the man-shaped snow hole 31, thus interposing the connecting portion 3 between the body of the handle portion 4 and the flange portion of the coupling projection 41 and therefore, the handle portion 4 will not fall off the connecting portion 3. In the joining portion, the connecting portion and the handle portion, require a pair of separable coupling means and such constructions are selected at the time of design. Further, by forming such a binding portion so that the handle portion becomes detachable, it is possible to form the handle portion in an arbitrary shape and the width of the pendant portion for the finger or the entire shape of the handle portion can be varied widely. Therefore, as shown in Figure 3, the bottle 1 can be carried as it is constructed in the manner described by hanging its finger on the portion for hanging the finger 4a of the handle portion 4 and can pour the contents into the bottle holding the handle portion 4 with one hand while holding the bottom of the bottle with the other hand. In addition, the entire hanging tool is flat and thin, requires less amount of resin material than a conventional handle and because the connection portion is shorter than the external diameter of the bottle, it is not necessary to ensure a space for the tool Hanging when the bottle is packed in a box. As described above, according to the present invention it is not necessary to have a cavity for the handle portion with the injection molding of the preform so that the mold can be simple in structure and prevented from being elongated. In addition, since the handle portion is molded separately, it is possible to extend the degree of freedom of the finger hanging portion by requiring that a configuration be formed so that it can be easily held and therefore, a bottle being provided which is easy to handle. While the presently preferred embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described, it will be understood that the present invention is not limited thereto and that various changes and modifications can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention. as set forth in the appended claims.
