Description

MODULE AND FRAMES FOR CABLE INPUTS Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a frame module for cable entries, pipe penetrations, etc.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Frames of different types are commonly used for cable entries, pipe penetrations, etc. The frame could receive power cables, communication, computers, etc., or pipes for different gases or liquids, such as water, compressed air, hydraulic fluid and cooking gas. The frame is used in many different environments, such as for cabinets, technical guards, junction boxes and machines and also for decks and bulkheads of boats. The frames can also be mounted on walls or ceilings of different types of buildings. Normally, different modules are included in the frames, so that the cables and pipes are received in them. However, these modules are usually only adapted for cables, pipes or the like having a circular cross section. There are no special modules for flat cables or similar. EEP. 168015 When flat cables are received, it is a common situation to make special arrangements in each frame. The person who assembles the cables, pipes or similar performs the adaptation. With which, the result to some degree has been dependent on the ability of the person who assembles the cables, etc. Therefore, there is a need for modules that can be adapted quickly to flat cables or the like that will be received in the frame.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention is developed in relation to parts that do not have a circular cross-section, for example, flat cables. An object of the present invention is that the frame must have the possibility to be adapted for the cross section of the part to be received. This objective is accomplished through a module that will be received in a frame for cable entries, pipe penetrations, etc. The module has parts that can be adapted to receive flat cables or the like, having an elongated cross section. A further objective of the present invention is that the handling must be improved, with regard to assembly, storage, as well as transportation. Preferably, the modules used can be adapted for cables of different dimensions, by means of tear-off or tear-off sheets. The leaves are held together through an adhesive effect. The adhesive effect is strong enough to normally hold the leaves together, although it is no stronger than to make it possible to peel a separate sheet by hand. The additional objects and advantages of the present invention will be obvious to a person skilled in the art when reading the detailed description of the current preferred embodiments that are found below.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention will be described below by means of examples and with reference to the appended figures. Figure 1 shows an example of a frame having a module according to the present invention, and Figure 2 is an exploded view of a module according to the present invention.
Detailed Description of the Preferred Modalities. In Figure 1, a frame 1 for cable entries, pipe penetrations, etc. is shown. Frame 1 will be received on a wall, top, roof, etc. As shown in the art, a number of modules 2, 3 are received in the frame 1. The modules 2, 3 are made of plastic material. In order to provide an airtight seal, a wedge 4 or other tension means are positioned to place pressure on the modules 2, 3, which will expand outwards due to the pressure. Between each set of the modules 2, 3 a partition 5 is located. The partitions 5 are located in such a way that they can slide in the frame 1 due to the pressure exerted by the wedge 4. From the modules shown 2, 3, a type of module 2 is for cables, pipes or the like having a circular outer circumference. This type of module is well known in the art and will not be described extensively in this document. The other module 3 is used to receive flat cables 6 or other parts having an elongated and rounded outer circumference. Even when the flat cables 6 are shown in the Figure 1 having a cross section with rounded semicircular ends, a person skilled in the art will realize that the flat cables 6 could have other cross-sectional shapes. The present invention has proved its utility also for flat cables having a more or less rectangular cross section. The corners of the cross section of the cable are often somewhat rounded. The latter cases work due to the fact that the modules 3 are sufficiently elastic to fill the deviation of the cross sections. In this manner, the end portions 7, which have a rounded inner surface orienting the cable, could be used even if the opposite surface of the cable were virtually straight. The module 3 for flat cables 6 has two end parts 7, which could correspond or be identical with the parts of the cable module 2, etc., having a circular cross-section. Between the end portions 7, two intermediate portions 8 are located. The end portions 7 have a number of sheets 9 which could be peeled to adapt the end portions 7 to the part to be received. In the same way, the intermediate parts 8 have the sheets 10 that could be peeled. In addition, each intermediate part 8 has a base plate 11. The base plate 11 is placed on the side of the intermediate part 8 which will be directed out of the cable 6 or similar in the assembly. The end portions 7 have the base units 14, which have a rectangular exterior configuration and a circular interior configuration. The circular interior configuration is to receive a cable, pipe or similar. The peeling sheets 9 are received inside the circular part. Depending on the dimension of the flat cable 6, the intermediate parts 8 of the module 3 could have a variable length. Normally, it is sufficient to have a number of standard lengths for the intermediate portions 8. It would also be possible to have intermediate portions 8 that are relatively long, in which case, the intermediate portions would be cut to a suitable length before assembly. When the end portions are used for a module 2 with a circular inner cross section, a hidden or blind rod 12 would usually be supplied to facilitate storage, transport and assembly. In the modules 3 for flat cables 6 the blind rod 12 is replaced with a blind plate 13 located between the intermediate parts 8. The blind plate 13 has rounded ends that will be received in the end parts 7. In some embodiments, there are no plates blind 13. As mentioned above, identical units could be used for the modules 2 for circular cables, pipes, etc., and for the end portions 7 of the modules 3 for flat cables or the like. The use of identical units facilitates handling and storage. In use, the blind plate 13 is first separated when the flat cable 6 or the like is brought through the frame 1. Next, the appropriate number of sheets 9, 10 are stripped from the end portions 7 and the intermediate parts 8, in a respective way. The appropriate number of sheets 9, 10 is the number that is necessary to provide space for the flat cable 6 in the module 3. When the cables, pipes or the like have been mounted on the frame 1, the wedge 4 or other tension means they would be manipulated to place pressure on the modules 2, 3 having cables, pipes, the blind rod 12, the base plate 11. Due to the pressure exerted by the wedge 4 or the like, the elastic material of the modules will expand to in the other directions, providing a hermetic seal. It is noted that in relation to this date the best method known by the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is that which is clear from the present description of the invention.
